A delegation from the Polish company Nitro-Chem visited the Făgăraș Powder Factory on October 2-3, 2020. The purpose of the visit was to „identify alternatives and solutions for revitalizing and modernizing the existing chemical product manufacturing lines in the portfolio of the Romanian economic operator,” explains Daniela Nicolescu, State Secretary for Defense Industry at the Ministry of Economy. The discussions at the Făgăraș Powder Factory followed the government-level visit to Poland in June 2023, within the framework of the Romania-Poland Strategic Partnership.
- ” Nitro-Chem is one of the largest producers of explosives in Europe, and the current steps support the intention of the Făgăraș Powder Factory to cooperate with the Polish company in terms of ensuring the supply chains of raw materials, materials and explosives. The Făgăraș Powder Factory has an ambitious development plan, being one of the capabilities of interest of the national defense industry. My priority is to provide national defense operators, through all the actions and discussions I have, either with counterparts or diplomats from other states, or with representatives of foreign business environments, their potential business partners, all the tools and levers to be able to develop,” explains the Secretary of State Daniela Nicolescu.
Installation in preservation for over a decade
- ” The TNT facility has not been operating since 2006 when it went into conservation. An investment was started here, after the explosion that occurred in 1990, but it was not completed for various reasons, not necessarily related to the financial side. The Polish company is a TNT producer. A decision is expected from the Nitro-Chem management regarding the evaluation of our facility and what its modernization would entail, the training of personnel, etc.,” said Lucian Cupu, president of the Free Trade Union Nitramonia-Rompiro.
