Iarnă la Bâlea Lac. Imagini de poveste la peste 2000 m altitudine

CABANA BALEA LAC - P1428

The image captured by the webcam at Bâlea Lac shows us a dreamlike landscape. While the mountain is covered in snow, the lake water is slowly starting to become covered with a crust of ice. Those who want to see the landscape „live” should know that Bâlea Lac can only be reached by cable car from Bâlea Cascada, after the Transfagarasan highway was closed a week ago.

Lake Bâlea is located in the heart of the Făgăraș Mountains, in Sibiu County. The glacial lake has an area of over 45,000 square meters. The typical mountain relief, made up of moraines, terraces and “U”-shaped valleys, is dominated by the crenellated ridges from which it rises. Lake Bâlea has been declared a natural monument, being considered one of the most beautiful and largest glacial lakes in Romania, with dimensions reaching an altitude of 2034 meters. The landscape formed by a lake on a mountain top is of particular beauty both in summer and in winter.
