Entertainment activities depend, first of all, on the budget available. Those who have fewer funds go to friends’ houses, or are visited by them, and chat or play board games. Socializing is one of the most popular free time activities among Romanian students.
Face-to-face meetings are often replaced by online socializing. Young people spend a lot of time on the internet, especially on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Facebook. Some students indulge in more varied entertainment and go to bars or karaoke at least once a week. Visiting museums, attending cultural events or concerts are other popular ways to spend their free time.
There is also a smaller category of young people who equate relaxation with a day at the spa, a massage or relaxing baths. Also, a small percentage of Romanians in college are part of reading circles or various clubs dedicated to creative activities, such as painting or Origami.
Many Romanian students travel and visit new places, either in the university center where they live or in other cities. There are many young people who often go to the mountains for hiking or skiing, when possible.
Laughter is a great way to relieve stress during the semester, so attending comedy shows is always a popular choice for students. Some of them practice their comedy skills by writing scripts that they then read in front of their friends at stand-up nights organized in their dorms.
Romanian students are creative, sociable, intelligent, have a penchant for culture and, most of them, have a sporty nature. Entertainment activities are directly related to these qualities, our young people combining fun with personal development in their free time.
