Former PSD MP Marius Isăilă, also convicted in another corruption case, was arrested on Friday after initially being detained by the DNA’s central structure for the crime of influence peddling. He promised one million euros to the Ministry of Defense to obtain a contract with a state-owned company.
- ” On October 9 and 15, 2025, in Bucharest, the defendant Marius Isăilă allegedly indirectly promised, through a person (witness in the case), the sum of 1 million euros for the Ministry of Defense, promises that were reiterated on October 24, 2025, the defendant having the representation that the Ministry of Defense could exercise its influence on the management of CN ROMTEHNICA SA, with the sole shareholder being the Ministry of Defense, in order to determine the conclusion of commercial contracts between this state-owned company and a private company, ” the DNA reports.
The minister in question is Ionuț Moșteanu (USR). The Ministry of Defense was questioned by the DNA in this case.
Marius Isăilă is a long-time client of the DNA. The former PSD senator who has been involved in several parties became famous in the case in which the DNA discovered that he had conspiratorial discussions in the toilets of Parliament and had relations with a former DIPI leader. He was sent to trial by the DNA on July 23, 2014 for influence peddling and forgery of documents under a private signature. On November 10, 2016, the High Court of Cassation and Justice definitively sentenced Marius Isăilă to five years and four months in prison with execution in this case
