Over 800 drivers were tested, over the weekend, on the roads of Brașov County, for alcohol consumption, and another 30 for the consumption of psychoactive substances. The activities aimed to make drivers responsible regarding the major risks generated by this behavior and the serious consequences of road accidents caused by the consumption of these substances. Over 40 police officers were involved in the action, who acted both during the day and at night, on public roads throughout the county, using technical testing means to identify those under the influence of alcohol or other prohibited substances. During the control activities, the police officers tested over 800 drivers for alcohol consumption, and in the case of 7 of them, the test results were positive. Following the results, 5 corresponding minor offense sanctions were applied for these violations and the complementary measure of withholding the driver’s license for a determined period of time was ordered. At the same time, 2 other people, drivers of vehicles, whose results indicated values above the legal limit, were taken to medical facilities, where biological samples were taken. Criminal cases were drawn up, and investigations continue in terms of committing the crime of driving under the influence of alcohol. In order to identify drivers who consumed psychoactive substances, the police conducted almost 30 tests, and in 2 cases where the device indicated a positive result for the consumption of prohibited substances, the police continue the investigations, and depending on the result of the specialized analysis, legal measures will be ordered. At the end of the activities, for the violations found, contravention sanctions totaling approximately 50,000 lei were applied.
