Horia Moculescu was born on March 18, 1937, in the city of Râmnicu-Vâlcea, and is one of the most influential musicians and TV program creators in the country. On his mother’s side, Nidia Copetti, he had Italian origins, and his father, Nicolae Moculescu, was an officer in the interwar Romanian army.

He attended secondary school in Turda, at the Boys’ High School (today the Mihai Viteazul National College in Turda), graduating in 1954. Due to his social origins considered unhealthy during the communist period, he was not accepted at the Bucharest Conservatory. Thus, he enrolled at the Faculty of Mines in Petroșani, where he continued to develop his musical talent within the faculty orchestra. Throughout his career, he was a member of the Composers’ Union and composed approximately 500 songs, obtaining over 200 awards for his creations. He collaborated with great performers and was a constant presence in the cultural and media life of Romania. Horia Moculescu remains one of the most important figures in the Romanian musical landscape, due to his contribution to music and television.
