Between January and October 2025, professional, voluntary and private emergency services managed a number of 17,385 events, meaning an average of 57 interventions per day. The statistics were presented at a press conference organized by ISU Brașov on Wednesday, November 12, 2020. 14,403 people were assisted, of whom 12,613 were adults and 1,790 were children. The main causes of fires were faulty or improvised electrical installations (24%), faulty or uncleaned chimneys and flues (16%), improper use of open fire (15%), and smoking (11%). ISU Brașov recommends cleaning chimneys at least once a year, and the electrical installation must be checked periodically by authorized personnel.
- ” In any home, a smoke or carbon monoxide detector can make the difference between life and death. These devices are affordable, easy to install, and provide timely warning in the event of a fire or gas leak, ” explains Col. Anton George.
A new project on the production of electricity from renewable sources will be implemented by installing panels at the Făgăraș Fire Department and the Victoria Fire Department. The financing contract was signed on October 29, 2025 and has a total value of 1,369,945.57 lei. The installed capacity will be 102.60 kW for the Făgăraș Fire Department and 66.67 kW for the Victoria Fire Department, ensuring the energy independence of the buildings and significantly reducing dependence on the national energy system.
