In the case of the explosion that took place on Stejarului Street in Făgăraș, block 27, on the morning of September 25, 2025, as a result of which a woman died, the Prosecutor’s Office at the Făgăraș Courthouse changed the legal classification in the criminal investigation file. According to a response issued by the Chief Prosecutor Romana Șandru, at the request of the Monitorul de Făgăraș newspaper, an ordinance was issued by which ” the legal classification was changed from the crime of negligent bodily harm to the crime of negligent homicide” . In the same file registered with the Prosecutor’s Office on October 6, File no. 1951/151/P/2025, the criminal investigation was carried out „in rem” for the commission of ” crimes of negligent bodily harm and negligent destruction „. Things changed after the owner of the apartment where the explosion occurred died in the hospital. To this date, the cause of the explosion is unknown. The Chief Prosecutor from Făgăraș says in the response given to the Monitorul de Făgăraș newspaper that at the end of the investigation the cause that led to the explosion will be known.

Objects from the apartment were thrown onto the street by the blast of the explosion, some reaching across the street to neighboring homes. ” The windows were also broken from the block across the street. The entire block shook and it is no longer safe. An expert assessment will be necessary for the safety of our homes, ” says a neighbor. The owner, who lived alone, was in the home devastated by the explosion. The 68-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
